Two strong emphases at Immanuel are Discipleship and Missions. With the
Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) as our mandate and working through the
Discipleship Council and the Missions Council, we are seeking to intentionally develop
disciples.
In recent years we have put our emphasis in providing small group experiences
that foster spiritual growth for all ages. Spiritual Formation Groups, Experiencing God,
Bible Studies on prayer all have enhanced our life and ministry as individuals
and as a church. Prayer groups, church-wide prayer experiences, and the recent
beginning of a prayer ministry on Sunday mornings have become a regular part of our
life at Immanuel.
The Missions Council works to create awareness, provide education, encourage
involvement and create a growing commitment of the church and its members towards
redemptive missions and ministry.
Woman's Missionary Union and Baptist Men organizations meet regularly to
learn about, support through prayer and material resources, and participate in community,
associational, state and foreign mission projects.
Immanuel encourages and provides opportunities for individual members to be
involved in missions and ministries. Some of these include Habitat for Humanity, Meals-
on-Wheels, preparing sandwiches for the Soup Kitchen, Yokefellow Prison Ministry,
volunteering at the Emergency Assistance Ministry associated with the Community
Shelter, Carolina Pregnancy Center just to name a few.
